With over a decade of experience teaching violin to students from pre-kindergarten to adults of all ages, Naomi’s unique combination of experience and training sets her apart as a music teacher. Naomi has taught hundreds of students beginner violin in her private studio and in public schools. She has helped adults fulfill lifelong dreams of picking up an instrument, and has also helped advanced students successfully gain admission to their top-choice music schools for their post-secondary studies.
Having completed a Bachelor of Music (majoring in violin), a Bachelor of Education (specializing in music), a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Education, and Orff Level 1 Certification, Naomi’s students can rest assured that she has spent hundreds of hours in professional training specifically designed to be an effective music instructor. Naomi has studied a wide variety of pedagogical approaches for music instruction, including the Suzuki method, the Orff approach, the Kodaly approach, and Creative Ability Development, all of which she weaves together to tailor lessons to the needs of each student.
Furthermore, Naomi is experienced in preparing students for both practical and music theory examinations with the Royal Conservatory of Music. RCM practical examinations evaluate a student’s technical skills and artistic expression on their instrument, as well as their musicianship (ear training). RCM theory examinations evaluate students’ understanding and creative application of music theory concepts, along with foundational knowledge in musicology (music history).
